Description
Are you a women’s pelvic health physiotherapist, midwife or General Practitioner (GP) who finds vaginal examinations challenging when treating women with pelvic pain? Or wonder what to do once you have identified an overactive pelvic floor? This course was designed to change that.
Through two intensive days of practical, hands-on learning, you will develop the confidence to assess and treat women with persistent pelvic pain using myofascial release, nervous system regulation and trauma-informed care. You will leave with practical skills and clinical reasoning that you can apply immediately in the clinic.
Over the two days, you will learn practical treatment techniques, supported by the theory that underpins them, so you can confidently return to the clinic and use them straight away. You will also discover how to incorporate tools such as myofascial cupping and Gua Sha stone release work into your clinical practice.
As this is a practical course, participants will learn and practice assessment and treatment techniques with one another under Jennifer’s supervision. This includes both external and internal (vaginal and rectal) pelvic health assessment and treatment techniques. Participation in all practical sessions is entirely voluntary, and alternative learning opportunities will be available where required.
By the end of the course, you will have the practical skills, clinical reasoning and confidence to:
- Perform comprehensive external and internal assessment of women with persistent pelvic pain.
- Deliver hands-on myofascial treatment to the diaphragm, abdomen, hips, clitoris, labia, perineum, superficial and deep pelvic floor muscles, and external anal sphincter.
- Perform trauma-informed vaginal assessment and treatment that prioritises safety, dignity and patient-centred care.
- Apply nervous system regulation techniques to reduce pain, improve movement and restore function.
- Integrate practical treatment tools, including myofascial cupping and Gua Sha, into your clinical practice, while confidently teaching women how to use these techniques safely at home to support their ongoing recovery.
- Use sound clinical reasoning to understand what to treat, why you are treating it, and when treatment is appropriate.
Every participant will receive a practical treatment kit, including myofascial cups, a Gua Sha tool and massage oil, to use during the course and take home afterwards.
This is a hands–on course, designed to give you practical skills, clinical confidence and a whole-body framework that can be applied with your very next patient. You will leave with the confidence to treat the women you previously felt unsure, uneasy or unconfident to assess and rehabilitate in your clinic.
