The Shakti Mat is an acupressure mat designed with thousands of carefully arranged spikes that apply gentle, sustained pressure to the skin. This traditional technique stimulates the body’s natural relaxation response and may support:

• tension release in the back, hips, and pelvic area
• increased blood flow to the back and surrounding muscles
• stress reduction and nervous system regulation
• improved sleep and emotional wellbeing.

Regular use may complement pelvic floor physiotherapy input and recovery by reducing muscular holding patterns, improving body awareness, and calming the nervous system.

How to use:

Gradually build up to lying on the mat for 10–20 minutes, ideally on bare skin or with a light layer of clothing. Initial discomfort is common, but over time, using the Shakti Mat typically gives way to a warm, calming sensation.

Avoid use if you:

• have broken or irritated skin, open wounds, or skin conditions (e.g. eczema, psoriasis) in the area of use
• are pregnant
• have a bleeding disorder or are on anticoagulant medication
• experience altered skin sensation or have been diagnosed with a condition such as fibromyalgia
• are unsure how your body might respond to acupressure.
