1. How do I make an enquiry or book an appointment?

2. Do I need a referral?

Women can self-refer for a pelvic health physiotherapy consultation; however, referrals from a midwife, doctor, or specialist are welcome.

3. How many treatment sessions will I need?

Every person who attends has individual needs, and it can take either a short or more extended time to see the resolution of symptoms. On average, however, women usually attend approximately 1-3 treatment sessions.

4. Will I have to have a vaginal examination?

An internal assessment/vaginal examination is often completed as part of a comprehensive assessment of the pelvic floor. It can be a useful way to understand and diagnose pelvic health conditions. There is never any obligation to have a vaginal examination, and patients may decline at any time.

5. Can I have a pelvic health assessment during my period?

Can I have a pelvic health assessment during my period? You needn’t worry; there is no need to cancel your appointment. A pelvic health physiotherapy consultation can be completed when a woman is menstruating if you feel comfortable doing so.

6. Do I need complete any bikini line hair removal before the appointment?

Absolutely not, it does not matter at all!

7. How long is a consultation?

Jennifer completes extended initial and follow up consultations to ensure women have time to express their emotions, progress or frustrations prior to having comprehensive treatment completed during the session. An initial consultation is 75-minutes long and a follow-up consultation is 45 minutes long.

8. Is telehealth an option?

Yes, zoom and telephone consultations are available, however, due to the intimate nature of women’s pelvic health it is beneficial to have a face to face consultation if possible.

9. Can I bring my children with me to a consultation?

Babies and children are always welcome to come with their mum to a consultation. From experience, mobile children can make it difficult for a woman to fully focus on herself and so sometimes they do find it more useful to come alone.

10. How will I remember all the information from a consultation?

Jennifer will write down all homework in an email and attach any relevant information leaflets. In addition, a consultation letter will be sent to the referring GP, specialist or midwife and the client will also receive a copy of this.

11. Is ACC (including maternal birth injuries) covered?

Jennifer is registered with ACC and can process any injuries as needed.

12. Is there parking?

Since Jennifer runs an in-home clinic, there is lots of easy access parking that is free of charge.
